Some of the food I grew up with I won’t be able to eat anymore due to different circumstances. Sometimes the restaurants close down, sometimes people who make the dishes aren’t around anymore.

In Filipino, ‘tirahan’ can be read as home (tiráhan) or to leave some leftovers (tirahán). This on-going series is an attempt at documenting those dishes that felt like home to me at different points of my life so I’ll always remember what it might have felt like to eat them again.

For the first edition, each food is framed as an episode set in a new island, where a stranger and his horse journey to collect artifacts of distant civilizations and cultures to preserve their memory for the future.
